Carbonylation of Hair Proteins: A Robust Biomarker of Molecular and Structural Oxidative Damage in Hair Fibres

We are pleased to share our latest peer-reviewed scientific publication in collaboration with Henkel Consumer Brands.

Our innovation: For decades, cysteic acid has been the only standard molecular biomarker for assessing hair fiber damage. However, our study demonstrates that protein carbonylation offers superior sensitivity and a more comprehensive approach to evaluate hair integrity.

Why is this a breakthrough?

Greater Sensitivity – Detects molecular protection/reparation at earlier stages.
Imaging Potential – Enables visual assessment on hair benefits at the cuticle and cortex levels.
Advanced Claims Substantiation – Provides robust scientific support for haircare products protecting or repairing hair from exposome-related damage (UV, pollution, chemicals).
